The Pacific Southwest Regional Council of NAHRO, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, is a membership organization composed of agencies, businesses, public officials and individuals dedicated to improving the lives of low-income families through the management, maintenance, and construction of housing, community facilities, infrastructure improvements and economic redevelopment. Affiliated with the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) the Pacific Southwest Regional Council (PSWRC) was established in 1942 to serve the needs of professionals engaged in the subsidized housing business who work and live in California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, and the Pacific territories. A non-profit organization with its own regional Governing Board, the PSWRC maintains a strong interdependent relationship with our national organization, NAHRO. Within the region operate three active local chapters, the Arizona Chapter, the Northern California/Nevada Chapter, and the Southern California Chapter. PSWRC also works closely with other Associations, CAHA (California Association of Housing Authorities) Arizona, Southern California, and the Northern California/Nevada Chapters.
Since 1942 our mission has been to provide quality training and continuing education to our members and those in the housing and redevelopment field who need to keep abreast of regulatory and legal changes, legislative proposals, and business and social trends. We produce one conference a year—an Annual Conference in May—the focus of which are sessions in public housing, Section 8 housing, community revitalization and development, and professional development. Our Annual Conference provides training specifically geared toward public housing commissioners and city officials who are charged with policy-making responsibilities. This training is available to members and non-members alike, and we encourage businesses in the housing and community development industry to advertise in our publications and exhibit at PSWRC events.
